I have been involved in mixed media almost my whole life. My father owned a yarn store and from the age of 3, I “went to work with Dad.” As a teenager I was our store’s designated “demo instructor” at the Detroit State Fair each year. Any new product that was new to the market was introduced at the Fair.

 

I majored in Family Studies and Fiber Arts from San Diego State University. While raising my two sons, Jason and Alex, I started one of my many entrepreneurial ventures. From children’s painted clothing to designing and selling handmade paper jewelry, I maintained steady involvement with the arts and crafts industry.

 

As my boys lost the arts in their school, I became their art teacher for the next six years. This was such a fulfilling experience and I realized my love for teaching. I’ve been an art instructor ever since.
